Increase self-employed workers in Ariguanabo

San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba – The number of women who are inserted in the changes of the Cuban economy increases in this municipality. More than 1000 ariguanabense women are part of non-state employment forms, which contributes to the improvement of the economy in the territory.

According to data from the local Ministry of Labor, new forms of employment generate an influx in tobacco sectors, cooperatives, agriculture, food processing, hairdressing, handicrafts, as well as researchers and textile workers. Women represent the 30 percent of the territory’s workforce. According to Belkis Rodríguez Hernández, Secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in the territory, the organization feels satisfaction for the level of women’s participation.

She stressed that the non-state sector is part of the policies outlined by the country and added that the Federation is able to take care of that sector and women’s rights within it, designing strategies aimed at avoiding any kind of injustice or discrimination.
