Closer to big goals
Artemisa, Cuba – An road without obstacles probably leads to somewhere that is not worth it. That should be the premise of all: applying it to our daily routines would bring us closer to greater goals, to large projects, in all aspects.
The arrangements at Ciro Redondo General Teaching Hospital in Artemisa, continue for almost a year, incessantly despite drawbacks . With a budget of 241,000 pesos, management controls the works to reduce time and ensure, above all, the quality, the main goal.
Regarding repair and maintenance, according to Abelino García, the hospital director , special attention has been paid to the surgical area. “Since we are the capital of the province, we have more patients, who come from everywhere.
“Sometimes the surgery unit was not enough . The simple solution: we decided to open a fourth room and specialize surgical units, a unit on the first floor with two rooms for emergencies and another on the top floor with two rooms for elective surgeries (scheduled), to achieve efficiency “.
In these four rooms , the brigades applied a special resin provided by the Enterprise for Engineering Services (EMSI), belonging to The Ministry of Public Health(Minsap).
Also, at the time of drafting these lines, the Company for Construction and Specialized Assembly placed the medicinal gases, while the Constructive Maintenance Company from San Cristóbal was concerned with the waterproofing of the roof.
It is included in the reparation the childbirth room and preparation, which had been closed for a long time, and the cesarean section. The Constructive Maintenance Brigade from Guanajay is in charge of this area, about to be finished . At the end of last year and the beginning of the current year, arrangements were made in the neonatal and hemodialysis services.
With funding from the territorial contribution of companies to local development, the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power approved a budget of 500,000 pesos more for the expansion of the Emergency Unit , X-ray, Clinical Laboratory and Pathological Anatomy. The works do not go equal , but they hope to complete the civil construction in late 2017.
Branly García, hospital administrator, said that the resources allocated to the Emergency Unit are at worksite , except the carpentry, by the Alutec Company, which must deliver it by the middle of the year.
The hospital has been involved in wall cladding, laying of false ceilings, electrical repairs and hydrosanitary installations, repair and construction of plateaus, marquetry, bathroom plating, floor polishing, painting and recovery of the cold room in Pathological Anatomy (For necropsies and other studies).
According to Abelino Garcia, preparations were also made to fix an area that “was never used, and will have a gastroenterology service , oncohematology (eight beds), coronary care (10) and an oncology department ( eight).
“All will be provided with the needed machinery , after order them to Minsap, to provide the people with these much-needed aid as soon as possible.”
As an indication of the Ministry, glassware will be replaced by sliding windows, fixed glass panels and slats, resources in current production.
Roberto Maura, graduated in Nursing, comments that it is not only a benefit for the population . ” Workers are happy to have more comfort when it comes to doing our work.”
Of course, we must add a careful and professional attention. And what has been repaired will not be relevant if the people do not take care of the new works and the previous ones that are important too.
