Artemisa, Cuba – Professionals of the health sector of the province of Artemisa are getting ready for the beginning of the 56 National Anti-Polio Vaccination Campaign, to be held during the months of February and April 2017.

Midiala Rodríguez González, specialist of the health promotion department of this entity in the territory, said that before the triumph of the revolution only were eliminated two preventable diseases by vaccines, the yellow fever in 1908 and the smallpox in 1923.

But in the period between 1962 and 2016 are eliminated 6 preventable diseases by vaccine and some serious forms of other diseases are also eliminated.

She added that in the case of other diseases such as Hepatitis B, they have significantly reduced its morbidity and mortality during this period.
