Defectologists inserted into community work

In San Antonio de los Baños, primary health care and specialists in Defectology develop community work. Dalgis González Jiménez, defectologist of polyclinic No 1 José Hipólito Pazos, says that they are part of the program ‘?’Educate your child’ in counseling the family to encourage children to proceed in favor of language development and manual skills, whether those cataloged as fine motor, digital clamp and overlapping objects, among others. Advising parents and conducting joint activities encourage infants to interact with adults.

Defectologists rely on educators and promoters of the program from the clinics, since the work starts from the birth of the baby. The specialist draws attention to the leading role of parents in each process and insists that they can find help in the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Room or the Center for Diagnosis and Guidance of the territory, for guidance. This center is located at April 17 school , where a multidisciplinary team provides information.

At school age, students receive the follow-up and evaluation of different processes in a coordinated manner with teachers, who make the reconciliations so that these students can overcome the objectives of their grade level.

Defectology contributes to the insertion of the individual in society, to offer follow-up from pregnancy, as they are considered children at risk of suffering a disability, hence the importance, to see if they beat the goals or not.
