The Joven Club  (Youth Computer and Electronics Club) is one of the options that the ariguanabense family has to approach the computerization process of the Cuban society.

According to Antonio Pérez Machado, municipal director of the Joven Club in San Antonio de los Baños, short courses are the most demanded modality, which demonstrates the high impact of information and communication technologies in the communities of the territory, as part of this initiative that started just over two years ago.

Among the topics with the greatest impact are the Microsoft Word, Power Point, Office Writer and Impress (programs for children and young people). The Windows Operating System, Photoshop graphic design, Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft Excel (for adults).

Pérez Machado added that the services offered at the Joven Club are inserted within the newest paths, as the world develops. Along with technological changes, advanced courses are offered, which are taught on Web 2.0 and have an important impact among adolescents. Within Web 2.0, Facebook is the application with the greatest impact and popularity among Internet users in the area.

Learning how these networks work, a greater creativity has developed, in addition to improving social relations, because they apply new elements of communication; they also share and open up to new contexts.

The short courses taught at the Joven Club will be the main proposals during the summer, a season in which the youngest members of the family opt for this healthy option. The main activities will focus on tournaments, videogames, digital contests, ‘La Mochila’ package, in this case a special edition for the summer, as well as workshops on different topics related to computer and communications technologies.
