Pakistan Accuses India of Violating Common Border Ceasefire

Islamabad -The Pakistani Foreign Ministry accused India of violating the ceasefire on the LoC, the de facto border between both countries in the disputed Kashmir region.

The External Affairs Ministry convened the Deputy High Commissioner of the Indian Embassy here, J.P. Singh, to protest the recent clashes in the area.

A statement from the ministry said that its director-general for South Asia, Muhammad Faisal, presented the protest and criticized the ‘deliberate attacks on civilians.’

Yesterday a Pakistani young man was shot dead by Indian soldiers, although New Delhi said it was only a response to the attacks by the Islamabad military men.

According to the Nawaz Sharif government, in 2016, 19 people were killed and 80 others injured by gunfire from across the border.

Both nuclear powers systematically accuse each other of breaking the ceasefire in the LoC, one of the most militarized areas in the world, where these clashes are common.
