Argentine Declares Agricultural Emergency in Several Provinces

Buenos Aires – The Argentinean government declared today agricultural emergency for various provinces hit by wild fires and heavy rains in the last few months.

The state of this phase governs for Santa Fe, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, La Pampa, Rio Negro and Salta ‘for the damages suffered as a result of forest fires and different inclemencies of the weather, ‘noted the Agro-industry ministry in the resolution.

The measure, published in the Official Gazette, indicates that in the case of Santa Fe this condition will be extended from January to June 30 for all agricultural activities affected by excessive rainfall, temporary flooding and flooding of streams.

In Córdoba, the emergency is extended until March 31 for agricultural, livestock and beekeeping farms damaged by flooding in river basins of several sites, including Río Carnero and Salsipuedes; Rio Jesus Maria and Rio Pinto, Rio Seco and Rio Dulce System.

In the case of Rio Negro it will be extended until June 27 in places such as Pichi Mahuida, Avellaneda, General Conesa and Adolfo Alsina, affected by forest fires.

Meanwhile, in Salta and La Pampa will run until June 30 and covers several localities of both provinces, some of them affected by frost and drought.

In the province of Buenos Aires, where heavy rains left hundreds of evacuated and damaged hectares, the state of emergency was declared mainly in the parties of Villarino and Patagones, and places such as Bahía Blanca, Coronel Dorrego and Tandi.
