Bolivia Reiterates Safety on Maritime Demand
President Evo Morales recalled that exactly 138 years ago, the Chilean army invaded Bolivia and encroached on its sovereign access to the sea and on a territory of at least 120,000 square kilometers.
He also stressed his ‘great satisfaction’ for the legal team´s work and the Bolivian ambassador and former President Eduardo Rodriguez Veltze’s at The Hague.
‘We are living in different moments, in moments of peace; and when there are pending issues as the ones with Chile we must turn up for an agency as important as the International Criminal Court,’ he added.
On Monday, Bolivian ambassador Eduardo Rodriguez informed to the ICC that the text of the reply is ‘sufficiently advanced’ for Chile to meet its pledges to restore Bolivia’s maritime condition.
Bolivia met with Chile at The Hague four years ago, hoping to get a ‘heartfelt dialogue’ to resolve in good faith the maritime dispute.
The head of State also reported that he will be reviewing along with the Bolivian legal delegation the plan against the Chilean lawsuit filed to the ICC for the use of Silala waters.
