Evo Morales Denounces Attacks by the Bolivian Right
La Paz – Bolivia’s president, Evo Morales, denounced today the real objective behind the attacks by the country’s right wing: to conspire and discredit the government, mainly its indigenous leader.
The defenders of the 21F (refusal to repostulate Morales to elections) are not citizen groups, but right-wing politicians disguised as citizens who have the only purpose of colluding and discrediting the government and especially the indigenous president, he said at a press conference.
In his opinion, the main goal of the opposition is to ‘destroy Evo’ with a plan under the leadership of the U.S. embassy, a strategy that, he reminded us, is used against progressive governments.
The head of state said that these ‘right-wing politicians’ cannot identify themselves with the Revolutionary Nationalist Movement (MNR), the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR) or other parties which have led the country into bankruptcy and are trying to confuse the people with this masquerade as citizens.
In recent months, groups defending the result of the referendum of February 21, 2016, which rejected an amendment to the Constitution for the re-election of authorities, have presented themselves at various events where the President and Vice President of Bolivia have been participating, actions which have also taken place abroad.
Morales also revealed he has information that these groups are paid and that they paint the walls or participate in these actions ‘to make money’.
He also acknowledged that they are within their rights because it is part of democracy and they contradict his accusations that the country is governed by a dictatorship.
The underlying issue is that some on the right want to return to government with any accusation and take advantage of everything we have now, Morales stressed.
Bolivia president reminded the audience the changes that have taken place in the last decade and assured that the successes of the Bolivian economy in the 12 years of his government were in all areas.
We have recovered the homeland, now we have the new Bolivia, here are the results, he concluded.
