Earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 registered in eastern Cuba

Havana – An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale was registered today in eastern Cuba, reported the network of stations of the National Seismological Service.

According to the National Center for Seismological Research (Cenais), the event occurred at 08:28, local time, 272 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Maisí, in the province of Guantánamo.

The telluric movement was located at coordinates 18.387 degrees latitude and -72.515 degrees longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

Yesterday, Cenais reported an earthquake of magnitude 3.6 at night, 34 kilometers southwest of the town of Caimanera, also in Guantánamo, and it was the eighth perceptible event of this type in the current year.
