Prague – The Welsh Millennium Stadium in Cardiff will host the final of the 2016-17 Champions League, the Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations(UEFA) announced today.

In addition, UEFA selected Friends Arena of Solna Stadium, in Sweden and the National Arena “Philip II of Macedonia”, in Skopje, as headquarters of the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup finals in 2017.

This will be the first time that three stadiums, recently reformed, host the European football’s decisive matches.

For its part, Macedonia will host for the first time in its history a great continental final.

The old Gradski Stadion, now called National Arena “Philip II of Macedonia”, was reopened on August 12, 2009, with a friendly match.

The result was a victory for Spain of 3-2 with goals of Fernando Torres, Gerard Pique and Albert Riera, who overhauled the initial 2-0.
