Pan-American Cadet and Youth Fencing Championship Begins in Cuba
Havana – Fencers from 21 countries are competing in the Pan-American Cadet and Youth Championship of this sport.
Argentina, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, the United States, Venezuela, and Cuba will cross their steels in both sexes.
In the tournament, the three styles of this sport: sword, foil, and saber, in the individual as well as by team encounters will be disputed.
According to the schedule announced the first to compete will be the cadets, who during today and tomorrow will carry out individual encounters in both sexes. March 4 and 5 juveniles will compete, while the competitions by teams will be the days 6 and 7.
According to the local commissioners, this continental tournament constitutes an important event for the young figures of this sport in Cuba, since most of them face for the first time an international competition.
