Investigation opens in Brazil against Bolsonaro's youngest son

Brasilia - Brazil's Federal Public Ministry (MPF) is investigating Renan Bolsonaro, the youngest son of President Jair Bolsonaro, for questionable private deals and possible illegal contracts with the federal government.

According to the magazine Veja, the descendant of the far-right president would have acted as a lobbyist before the Planalto Palace (headquarters of the Executive Power) for companies that invest in their commercial activities.

The publication draws attention to the fact that the son of the president's second marriage to Ana Cristina Siqueira Valle became a prosperous real estate investor after his mother married the then federal deputy.

Veja points out that the preliminary investigation was opened after the 04, as Renan is known, opened an office in this capital and began to mediate in meetings between businessmen and senior government officials.

The 22-year-old young businessman contacted the president, for example, to organize a meeting of one of his sponsors with representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development.

After hearing the case, the MPF received complaints from opposition parliamentarians and filed a lawsuit.

The Federal District (DF) prosecutors have already requested the collection of data from the president's son, the company Bolsonaro JR Eventos y Media, and his business partners.

One of the firms is negotiating to close an agreement with the Ministry of Development to build affordable housing.

The other, according to the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper, provided video production services to the ministries of Health, Education and Tourism.

Before his father became president, Renan was unemployed. Later, he founded a company with a registered capital of 105 thousand reais (about 19 thousand dollars).

Last December, deputy Iván Valente, from the Socialism and Freedom Party, asked the Attorney General's Office to begin an investigation into Renán's business with government companies.

We knocked on the door of the Federal Attorney General's Office, the parliamentarian reiterated, 'to learn about the evident influence peddling in the case of the producer, hired by Planalto, who worked for Bolsonaro's minor Renan for free. Brazil cannot be held hostage. of this authoritarian immorality, 'he remarked.

Transforming influence into business, in addition to being immoral, is a crime expressly provided for in the legislation, the congressman stressed in the document addressed to the Prosecutor's Office.
