The local (EMINCAR) mixed enterprise is carrying out an investment project in Santa Lucia mining region from Pinar del Río province in order to produce led concentrate and zinc for being exported.
“The investment, which will cost $ 270 millions dollars, will be carried out through some stages and it will allow an annual processing of a million tons of zinc and lead for the obtaining of a concentrate of both minerals. “ General Manager, Miguel Justo Pérez, highlighted.
“For the moment being, the related facility and development of the mine, as well as the harbor of Santa Lucia are under construction given that concentrate of minerals will be transported through that way to get until Mariel´s harbor. We consider that it has an 11 year-period time of exploitation, according to the related studies.” He pointed out to the local Radio Rebelde station.
That investment will bring additional benefits for that town from Pinar del Río province such as the repair of the waters -supply pipe and the buying of a waterworks station, including the repair of roads, respectively.
