Foreign Minister Denounces Opposition Calls to Rebellion in Venezuela

San Salvador - Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez condemned today the opposition calls to rebellion in Venezuela, although she hoped that the people will exercise their constitutional power to defeat interventionism.

The diplomat told Prensa Latina on the immediate future of Venezuela that the call for a Constitutional Assembly would allow the people to contribute to overcoming the harsh internal confrontations.

She recalled that the Bolivarian leader Hugo Chavez called for perfecting the Constitution, and that was the call made by President Nicolás Maduro, protected by Article 348 of the Constitution, to seek consensus that leads to peace in Venezuela.

'The majority of the people expressed its support, although we must admit, sadly, that an opposition faction called the rebellion to disturb the peace,' Rodríguez lamented, referring to Governor Henrique Capriles and the head of Parliament, Julio Borges.

In fact, an attempt in the state of Miranda to sabotage with homemade bombs facilities of the National Telephone Company of Venezuela (CANTV) was prevented last night, which would have left without connection a good part of Caracas.

Rodríguez reiterated the invitation to all political parties to expose the scope of the Constitutional Assembly, in a national dialogue to overcome the current situation, although the opposition refuses to seek peace in Venezuela.
